It's weird that a scam website that has existed since 2004 still is out there. Also, I cannot find any information on AsMagia.com being in Mexico nor of them being sued. However, the laws don't matter as Mexican laws still are on your side in this case, and the website's servers are located in the United States. Going to the police and reporting it really is the only way to go. If someone gets sued for stealing your friend's stuff and the next week this person steals your stuff, you would also go to the police regardless of your friend already having sued the thief, not?

As for good stores, in Europe http://worldmagicshop.com is well-established. In Spain, you have http://www.librosdemagia.com/, http://seleccionesmagicas.es/ and some other options. As Spain of all countries has the biggest school of magic and most magic festivals, there shouldn't be a problem for you finding whatever you want.
