i'm a student in HS, my ultimate goal in life is to NEVER reach my goal( meaning, always changing the goal once i'm close to finishing it), right now, i'm studying to be a programmer and later an engineer, as i had a dream to make something that will make my name go into the books, and i haven't gave up on it.

besides all that, i'm an arrogant, selfish and self-serving person, to me, i am only as good as people see me.

BTW, ha. ha.

That would be a terrible feeling for me, never to be able to finish what I started

My goal are in steps. First, I want to graduate and get into one of the 4 big firms for accounting in Canada. Then, I want to get a CA (or CPA in the US) license, which is technically the highest form of an accountant specialist. Then, I'm going to make my way up to the top and either stay there, or make my own firm and become a CEO. Lastly, my final goal is to earn enough money that I can support my family, but at the same time, be able to donate and support unfortunate people in places like Africa and support the orphans here in North America. I've seen my fair share of poverty as I grew up, so I don't want to see that when I am old. It's too sad...

Well at least these are my occupation-related goals.

oh no, i WILL be finishing what i started, but just right before i did it i will change goals so i have something else to look forward to( practically the same as your steps, just that i can't think so far yet, so i'll take the time to get to my goal to think of the next step)

I'm 31 so I should be in my "career of choice" by now I guess but if only life was that simple.

I worked for a while in the falconry business, helping with the making and selling of equipment for people who like to go out hunting with falcons. While I was doing that I taught myself to use photoshop and did a few jobs designing flyers and posters for some small businesses. Now for the last three years I've been driving taxi's in the small town I live in. It's not the most amazing of jobs, some good days, some pretty challenging days with some of the "characters" I pick up on a weekend. Luckily its also a good job for having plenty of small breaks during which I can practice my card magic

In the long-term I just want to make enough money to enable me to pay the bills and to continue with my various hobbies (music making, art, card magic) and if I can one day make money just from performing magic that would be ideal; so I better stop typing and continue practising as I have some catching up to do.

23 year old bum. Was working at Chipotle for 4 years and 3 months before they fired me for no reason. Before that I worked at Safeway aka Slaveway for 1 month, and I quit there because the hours weren't ideal as a night stocker.

17 year old student, studying A2 level computing, CISCO ITE and BTEC Media.
I work during school lunch hour running the computer club for younger students to finish school work.
I enjoy archery a lot, and I enjoy gaming as well.
Currently waiting on my AS level exam results - fingers crossed.

For the last 12 years I've been a chef in variety of different eating establishments from fast food to fine dining, and so far it's been a long love affair. When you're in the kitchen you want out, and when you've been away you miss it like...I don't know. There's something slightly romantic about the life style, after a shift and a few drinks at the bar the cards come out, and you don't want to go home. It's kind of an odd job when you think about it - working when everyone else is enjoying themselves, cooking for invisible strangers. We work hard and play hard, and it's probably the same the world over.

Wow... Although I expected people to be very different, it's kind of amazing how people view the world in more depth than simply "life is good" or "life is bad".

As Tommy said, work hard and play hard is a good motto to live by.

Hey Albert, just to clarify I was talking about life in the catering/hospitality industry, but you are right, it's a good motto to live by.

If it's any consolation Thuy, I don't know what is in my future. The only thing I enjoy doing is magic... other than that, I'm just a gamer.

regret to say, it's no consolation mate... most people your age haven't had a clear goal yet, while most people my age already have a dream to strive for... thanks for trying tho.

paramedic? as in, the kind that aids police officers?

Me getting fired from my job at the end of January is a bittersweet thing, really. On one hand, I lose my job and a reliable source of income (as well as free food during my shifts!). On the other hand, I have more free time to do what I enjoy, which is gaming and magic of course! I worked full time for 4 years without ever receiving a promotion, and I'm glad now I get time to relax. That's when I started taking magic seriously, and I'm grateful for that. Also taking online classes at a community college, but its not that time consuming. I'm 23 and I don't have any clue what I want to accomplish in life, its quite sad really. But I'm okay with it. My sister is 19 and highly successful, going to a highly prestigious college, taking 15 credits per quarter, all while working a full time job as well. I just don't have that drive, I don't know what it is. I just want different things, even though I don't know what those things are yet. I'll find my way, I'm sure of it. But until then, I'm completely content with who I am and how my past has shaped me into who I am today.

I think many people have the misconception that not finding a straight good goal early on in life is very bad. Sure, finding a good long term goal earlier on is more advantageous, but I believe people find their own goals at the right pace and at the right time. We are going to live at least around 10 years longer than our parents, most likely, due to the medical advancements. If that's the case, people will start to retire later, so it may just as well seem like we are getting a few more "bonus" years compared to our parents in finding what we want to do. I think taking your time to find your real purpose in life is a lot better than rushing to satisfy current needs. Being a magician open up so many doors. I once heard that through being a magician, a guy's people-skills got so much better, allowing him to get a managerial position in a brand name clothing store without a college degree. Just shows the benefits of being a magician

la0o9 where you taking to me when you said most people my age have no clear goal?
Im 15 how old aare you, my wanting to be a parmdeic(a paramdeic is someone who is called to a scene of an incident and bandgae people and help them so that they can live long enough to get to the hospital)/nurse/youth worker has only recently come on because I want to help people like both my parents. A lot of my friends know what they want to do (one is already studying it part time) and my sister knew all her life and is currnetly studying it at uni so I kind of apligated to choose and know what I want to do.

These days I think that far too much pressure is put on youngsters to study, make the right decisions etc at too tender an age - decisions that will ultimately change their lives in one way or another. What they don't realise is if they feel they made the wrong choice, it's actually not that difficult to take a different path. Where I'm from it's never too late to learn a new skill, for example my mother went back to school at 40 something because she'd always wanted to be a hair stylist but could never afford it until then. I guess what I'm saying is to keep your options open because in this life the possibilities are endless, so don't get caught in the trap of thinking you've failed somehow by not fulfilling your initial goal. Life is change.

I agree completely with Tommy. Parents these days (especially Asians, keep in mind I am not trying to be racist) constantly put that pressure on us, the children of the next generation. We should be free to choose what we want to do when the time comes. My parents are always asking me, "What do you want to do when you grow up?" "What are you planning to major in?" "Where do you want to work?" I just tell them that I have not made up my mind, I then get lectured for about half an hour...
