Hi

My names Joseph
Love playing with cards
Love tricks using an ordinary deck of cards or un tampered items
I can do basic sleight of hand and know a few tricks
I used to do magic a fair few years back and now that I'm 20 i've re-picked it up due to recently getting a deck of cards to use.
I would like some information on what i need to learn, should learn and will learn.

Thanks in advance

Hi Joseph! Good for you, getting back into magic. Welcome!

Heya! Welcome! Nice that you're getting back into magic.

Have had a good few weeks? Or did you think it was a bit too busy in your city? ;)

As for what you need to learn, I'd like to get you a challenge instead: a routine of about ten minutes that builds up nicely starting with highlighting one card, then a few cards, perhaps a few more and ending with the whole deck in the spotlight (f.i. a deck fully ordered and/or changing color on the back), everything flowing nicely into each other. If you're not a creative kind of fellow, you may use whatever is already out there. Will you accept it? ^_^

Welcome Joseph! My first piece of advice is GET MORE CARDS!! If you're gonna do plenty of practise you'll need a few decks.

On what you "need" to learn, well that depends on what sort of stuff you want to perform. But for basic but strong card magic all you really need for starters is a good fake shuffle and/or cut, a one card control, and a good colour change, maybe one of the easier passes, like the turnover pass, and maybe a top change.. And that's stretching it! You can actually do miracles without any difficult "sleights" at all. So what sort of stuff are you wanting to perform?

Ed marlos - fingertip control
dai vernons books
Mark hilkemiejer's effects
Juan Tamariz

There are 1000's of other references, like tommy steal, bill marlo, slydini, dai vernons students, underground street magicians, and for inspiration check out the penn and teller show "Fool us?" or something like that
